Export KML

Create Google Earth vector output.

Overview

KML export writes CAD drawing data to .kml output.

KML uses a specialized options window for block export mode, CAD styles, extended data, HTML descriptions, closed curves, extrusion, altitude mode, and curve approximation.

Specialized KML / KMZ options
Use the KML / KMZ Export Options page for block export mode, CAD style restoration, extended data, HTML description tables, closed curves as polygons, extension to ground, and altitude mode.

Steps

  1. Run EXPORTGEO_SP or click Spatial Data > Export.
  2. Select KML in the Select Export Format window.
  3. Complete the format-specific options window.
  4. Choose the output path when prompted.
  5. Wait for the progress window to finish.
  6. Open the output in the target application and review the exported data.

Best Practices

  • Confirm the drawing CRS before export.
  • Use layer-based selection when layers already represent logical GIS layers.
  • Keep only the required object types enabled.
  • Use the curve approximation step carefully for curved geometry.
  • Review the exported file in the receiving application before delivery.
