The GeoDistance Tool in SPCAD accurately measures geodetic distances, making it ideal for mapping, surveying, and engineering projects. Traditional maps distort measurements because they project a curved surface onto flat paper. As a result, distances on maps may not match true ground distances, making geodetic measurements essential.

With GEODIST_SP, you can quickly measure accurate ground distances without leaving SPCAD. First, select the two points on your drawing using the cursor. Then, the tool calculates and displays the geodetic distance between them. This way, you avoid switching between software or online tools for precise measurements.

Steps to Use the Geodistance Tool
- Once you specify the end point, the calculated geodistance will be displayed in the command prompt.
- Make sure you have assigned the correct coordinate system to calculate geodistance, and while assigning the coordinate system, also set the unit in which you want the geodistance to be calculated.
- Go to the Coordinate System panel, select the Georeferencing tools dropdown, and choose Geodistance, or type GEODIST_SP in the command prompt.
- Specify the start point, then specify the end point between which you want your geodistance to be calculated.
