WMS Overview
Use WMS to connect to online Web Map Service layers and insert them into model space as georeferenced raster images.
Overview
WMS in SPCAD loads map images from a Web Map Service. A WMS service may contain one or more requestable layers. SPCAD requests the selected layers, downloads a raster image, transforms it when required, and inserts the result into model space.
Unlike Background Maps, which use predefined basemap sources, WMS allows the user to enter a service URL, fetch the capabilities, choose layers, and save the setup as a preset.
Main Capabilities
Add WMS Services
Connect to a WMS URL, fetch available layers, choose image format, set transparency, and add the service to the drawing.
Select Multiple Layers
Select one or more requestable layers. SPCAD creates one combined WMS image for the service-level layer selection.
Refresh and Auto Refresh
Refresh the image manually or allow SPCAD to refresh the WMS image when the model-space view changes.
Capture and Query
Capture the already-loaded image as raster or OLE, review layer information, and request feature information from a picked point.
Where to Find WMS
- Open the SPCAD Palette.
- Select the Web Maps tab.
- Select the WMS tab.
- Right-click WMS Services to add the first service.
Drawing State
SPCAD stores WMS service information in the drawing. When a drawing is reopened, the WMS service list can be restored from the saved state.
The stored information includes the service address, alias, version, request CRS, image format, transparency setting, selected layer list, layer CRS information, layer bounds, visibility, auto refresh setting, and bring-to-front setting.
