Export Image as KMZ

Create a Google Earth KMZ overlay from selected georeferenced raster images.

Overview

Image as KMZ export writes CAD drawing data to .kmz output.

This workflow prompts you to select raster image references in the drawing, then writes their georeferencing into the KMZ overlay.

Raster image selection

This workflow only exports raster image references selected in the drawing. It does not export vector CAD objects.

Steps

Run EXPORTGEO_SP or click Spatial Data > Export.
Select Image as KMZ in the Select Export Format window.
Complete the format-specific options window.
Choose the output path when prompted.
Wait for the progress window to finish.
Open the output in the target application and review the exported data.

Best Practices

Confirm the drawing CRS before export.
Use layer-based selection when layers already represent logical GIS layers.
Keep only the required object types enabled.
Use the curve approximation step carefully for curved geometry.
Review the exported file in the receiving application before delivery.
