Import CSV / TXT Points
Import delimited text point data from CSV or TXT files.
Overview
CSV and TXT files use a dedicated point import dialog. SPCAD reads the delimited table, detects fields, and opens the CSV/TXT import workflow.
Prepare the Table
| Item | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Coordinate fields | Include clear Easting/X and Northing/Y columns. Include elevation/Z when needed. |
| Header row | Use field names that describe the data. |
| Delimiter | Use a consistent delimiter throughout the file. |
| CRS | Assign the drawing CRS before import so coordinates are interpreted in the project context. |
Import Steps
- Select the CSV or TXT file in the source picker.
- SPCAD opens the CSV/TXT import dialog.
- Map the coordinate and optional attribute fields as required.
- Confirm layer, point, and label options.
- Click OK.
