Import

Import Geospatial Data

Import geospatial files and File Geodatabase layers into the current drawing using the SPCAD Spatial Data import workflow.

Overview

The Import command converts geospatial sources into CAD entities in the current drawing. It is used for common vector sources such as Shapefile, GeoPackage, File Geodatabase, KML/KMZ, GML, GPX, GeoJSON, SQLite/DB, MapInfo, XYZ, CSV/TXT points, and georeferenced raster images.

The main command is IMPORTGEO_SP. It opens the Select Geospatial Source window, reads the selected source, shows the available layers or feature classes, and then creates CAD objects using the selected import options.

Import is CRS-aware.
Before importing, assign a coordinate system to the drawing. SPCAD uses the drawing CRS as the target coordinate system for imported features.

Main Workflow

  1. Open the drawing and assign a CRS if one is not already assigned.
  2. Click Import in the Spatial Data ribbon group, or run IMPORTGEO_SP.
  3. Select whether the source is a file or an ESRI File Geodatabase folder.
  4. Choose the required source and confirm it.
  5. For multi-layer vector sources, select the layers or feature classes to import.
  6. Set transformation, output, layer, elevation, label, and geometry options.
  7. Click OK to create the CAD entities.

Format-Specific Help

Vector Data

Use the general import window for Shapefile, GeoPackage, File Geodatabase, GPX, GeoJSON, SQLite/DB, MapInfo, and many GML sources.

Special Workflows

KML/KMZ, CityGML, CSV/TXT points, XYZ points, and raster images use format-specific behavior or dialogs.
