Comprehensive Guide to Coordinate System Panel Tools in SPCAD

The Coordinate Systems panel in SPCAD offers a suite of tools to manage and transform spatial data. It enables users to assign and modify coordinate systems, apply scale factors, and integrate mapping services, ensuring precise alignment of drawings with real-world data.

Assign Coordinate Systems

This tool assigns a coordinate system to your drawing, aligning it with a specific geographic or project-based framework. Accurate assignment is crucial for integrating your drawing with real-world coordinates.

Display Coordinate System Info

This function displays detailed information about the currently assigned coordinate system. It provides insights into the system’s parameters and ensures that the correct system is in use.

Unassign Coordinate System

Unassigning a coordinate system clears the existing system from your drawing, allowing you to apply a new coordinate system as needed. This tool is useful when changing spatial references or updating your drawing’s framework.

Change Drawing Units

Changing drawing units adjusts the measurement system used in your drawing, converting between different unit types. This tool ensures that your drawing’s units match the required standards.

Coordinate Conversion

Coordinate Conversion transforms coordinate values from one projection system to another. This function ensures that your data aligns correctly with different spatial references or coordinate systems.

Import OSM Vector Data

Download and insert OpenStreetMap data as CAD objects.

Download Web Map Tiles

Fetches and inserts online map imagery into your drawing.

Geotagged Images

Reads EXIF geolocation data, transforms it to the assigned projection, and inserts images as multileader/blocks with hyperlinks.

Mosaic Images

Generates a seamless mosaic by placing images side by side according to their spatial positions.

Capture Screen as KMZ

Captures a specified CAD window as an image, georeferences it using the active projected coordinate system, and exports it as a KMZ overlay for Google Earth visualization.

Transform CAD Drawing

This tool facilitates the transformation of your drawing by applying coordinate system changes and adjustments. It helps align your drawing with new spatial references or geographic coordinates.

Custom Transformation

Custom Transformation calculates and applies transformation parameters based on coordinates from CSV files. This tool ensures precise alignment of your drawing with specific data inputs.

Scale Factor

Applying a scale factor converts grid coordinates to ground coordinates, adjusting your drawing to reflect real-world measurements. This function is essential for accurate geographic alignment.

QR Code

The QR Code tool generates a link for specific point locations in your drawing, which can be viewed in navigation applications like Google Maps. It helps verify spatial accuracy and integrate your drawing with mapping services.
