Perpendicular at Fixed Front Line

Overview

The Perpendicular at Fixed Front Line tool in the Cadaster Panel enables users to divide a plot into multiple lots while ensuring that each division is perpendicular to a selected front edge. This tool proves particularly useful when working with curved or irregular front lines, as it maintains a uniform frontage for each plot and intelligently adjusts the corner plots to distribute any leftover area.

Key Features

  • Divides a plot into lots perpendicular to the selected front line (whether curved or straight).
  • Ensures all interior plots have a fixed, equal frontage width, regardless of their area.
  • Automatically calculates and suggests a division count based on the total front length.
  • Allows manual input for custom frontage width within the valid range.
  • Adjusts the corner plots (extreme left and extreme right) to balance any remaining space.

How to Use the Tool

  1. Accessing the Tool
    • Method 1: Navigate to the Cadaster Panel > Lot Division and select Perpendicular at Fixed Front Line. Alternatively, type DFG_SP in the command prompt and press Enter.
  2. Selecting the Front Line
    • Click on the target segment of the polyline that represents the front edge of your plot.
    • Ensure the front edge forms part of a closed boundary or a main reference line for divisions.
  3. Choosing the Starting Point
    • The tool prompts you to specify whether you want the division to start from the left or right of the selected front edge.
    • This choice determines how the tool traces along the polyline to create perpendicular divisions.
  4. Setting the Frontage Width
The tool automatically calculates a suggested frontage width based on the total length of the selected front edge.
    You can either:
    • Accept the default value (system-calculated division).
    • Enter your own frontage width, ensuring it fits within the total length of the polyline.
  5. Generating the Divisions
Once you confirm the frontage width, the tool will:
    • Divide the front boundary perpendicularly at the specified intervals.
    • Adjust the corner plots (extreme left and right) to balance any remaining space.

Example Scenario

You have a land parcel with a curved front boundary, and you need to create plots with equal front widths while ensuring perpendicular alignment to the curve.

Solution Using This Tool

  1. Select the curved front boundary.
  2. Choose to start divisions from the left or right.
  3. The tool calculates the total length of the front boundary and suggests a default number of divisions.
  4. Enter a frontage width of 10 meters.

The tool then divides the land into equal frontage plots, while adjusting the extreme left and right plots to fit any remaining space.
