      <p>Create an attribute-based map style from a Data Table field and assign colors to unique field values.</p>

          <h2>Overview</h2>
          <p>The <strong>Thematic Map</strong> dialog creates a new theme from an existing Data Table. A theme uses one selected field to classify linked CAD objects by unique values and display them using class colors.</p>
          <p>When the theme is saved, it becomes available in the <strong>Thematic Maps</strong> tab. From there, you can show or hide the theme, edit it, draw persistent thematic objects, or create a legend.</p>

            <strong>Example:</strong><br />
            Create a theme named <code>Parcels by Land Use</code>, select the <code>Parcels</code> table, select the <code>LandUse</code> field, build unique values, and assign colors to each land-use class.

          <h2>Before You Start</h2>
          <p>Before creating a Thematic Map, make sure the source Data Table is ready.</p>
          <ul>
            <li>The drawing contains at least one Data Table.</li>
            <li>The source Data Table has active fields.</li>
            <li>The source Data Table contains records.</li>
            <li>The records are attached to CAD drawing objects.</li>
            <li>The field you want to classify contains meaningful values.</li>
            <li>Field values have been cleaned if they will be used as categories.</li>
          </ul>

            <strong>Important:</strong><br />
            The <strong>Field</strong> selection is mandatory. A Thematic Map cannot be created without selecting a source table and field.

          <h2>Open the Thematic Map Dialog</h2>

          <p>The Thematic Map dialog contains two main groups: <strong>Theme Definition</strong> and <strong>Unique Values / Colors</strong>.</p>

          <p>The <strong>Theme Definition</strong> group defines the source data and default colors for the theme.</p>

                <td>The color ramp used to assign initial colors to classes. Changing the ramp can update colors for existing class rows.</td>

            When creating a new theme, SPCAD may start with <code>Thematic Map 1</code> and then update the name based on the selected table and field.

          <h2>Select the Source Table and Field</h2>
          <p>The selected table and field determine which records are classified.</p>
          <ul>
            <li>Select a Data Table that contains the records you want to display.</li>
            <li>Select a field that contains the classification values.</li>
            <li>Use category fields for best unique value results.</li>
            <li>Clean field values before building classes if needed.</li>
          </ul>
          <p>Common fields used for thematic maps include:</p>

            <li><code>ZoneType</code></li>
            <li><code>Status</code></li>
            <li><code>RoadClass</code></li>

            <strong>Important:</strong><br />
            When the selected table or field is changed, existing class rows may be cleared because the unique values must be rebuilt for the new field.

          <h2>Select a Color Ramp</h2>
          <p>The <strong>Color Ramp</strong> list displays preview strips of available palette colors. The selected ramp is used when classes are built or when the ramp is applied to existing class rows.</p>
          <p>Use color ramps to quickly assign different colors to the unique values in the selected field.</p>
          <div class="note">
            <strong>Tip:</strong><br />
            Choose a color ramp with good contrast when the map has many classes. For plotted drawings, avoid colors that are difficult to distinguish on the selected background or paper output.

          <h2>Build / Rebuild Values</h2>
          <p>Click <strong>Build / Rebuild Values</strong> to create class rows from the unique values found in the selected field.</p>
          <p>SPCAD reads the records from the selected Data Table, finds the unique values in the selected field, and creates one class row for each value.</p>

            <li><strong>Select a table</strong><br />Choose the source Data Table.</li>
            <li><strong>Select a field</strong><br />Choose the required field used for classification.</li>
            <li><strong>Select a ramp</strong><br />Choose the color ramp used to assign class colors.</li>
            <li><strong>Click Build / Rebuild Values</strong><br />SPCAD creates class rows from the unique field values.</li>
            <li><strong>Review the classes</strong><br />Check class labels, colors, and on/off status.</li>

            <strong>Important:</strong><br />
            Rebuilding values clears and recreates the class list. Review any manually edited labels or colors before rebuilding.

          <h2>Unique Values / Colors Grid</h2>
          <p>The class grid controls the classes that will be used by the Thematic Map.</p>

          <h2>Edit Classes</h2>
          <p>After building the unique value classes, you can adjust the class list before saving the theme.</p>
          <p>You can:</p>
          <ul>
            <li>Turn classes on or off using the <strong>On</strong> checkbox.</li>
            <li>Click a color swatch to change a class color where supported.</li>
            <li>Edit the <strong>Value / Label</strong> text for clearer presentation.</li>
            <li>Change the color ramp to apply a different color set to the class rows.</li>
          </ul>
          <div class="warning">
            <strong>Color picking note:</strong><br />
            On some CAD platforms, manual color picking may not be available. In that case, use the selected color ramp to assign colors.
          </div>
        </section>

        <section class="card" id="null-values">
          <h2>Blank and NULL Values</h2>
          <p>If the selected field contains blank or null values, SPCAD may create a class for those records. This helps identify objects with missing attribute values.</p>
          <p>Use the null class to review incomplete data before final output. You can keep the class enabled for QA review or turn it off if the blank values should not be displayed.</p>

            <strong>Tip:</strong><br />
            Use <strong>Select by Attributes</strong> to find and update missing values before rebuilding the theme classes.

          <h2>Save the Thematic Map</h2>
          <p>Click <strong>OK</strong> to save the Thematic Map definition.</p>
          <p>When OK is clicked:</p>
          <ul>
            <li>SPCAD verifies that a table is selected.</li>
            <li>SPCAD verifies that a field is selected.</li>
            <li>If no class rows exist, SPCAD attempts to build the unique values automatically.</li>
            <li>The theme stores the name, table, field, color ramp, classification mode, draw mode, and class rows.</li>
            <li>The saved theme appears in the Thematic Maps tab.</li>
          </ul>

            <strong>Classification mode:</strong><br />
            New Thematic Maps use unique value classification. Each class is created from a unique value in the selected field.

          <h2>After the Theme Is Created</h2>
          <p>After saving the Thematic Map, you can manage it from the Thematic Maps tab.</p>
          <p>Typical next actions include:</p>
          <ul>
            <li>Show the theme in the drawing.</li>
            <li>Hide the theme when it is not needed.</li>
            <li>Edit the theme to change classes, colors, labels, source field, or color ramp.</li>
            <li>Create persistent thematic objects for plotting or delivery.</li>
            <li>Create a thematic legend.</li>
            <li>Refresh the palette if the theme list does not update immediately.</li>
