This tool helps you organize, identify, and customize how the surface appears and is labeled in the drawing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When you click the <strong>Redefine<\/strong> command under the <strong>Edit<\/strong> section, a <strong>TIN Settings dialog<\/strong> appears, as shown in the image. This dialog allows you to modify the following:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"325\" height=\"395\" src=\"https:\/\/help.cadomation.com\/spcad\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/image-6.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4201\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.cadomation.com\/spcad\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/image-6.png 325w, https:\/\/help.cadomation.com\/spcad\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/image-6-247x300.png 247w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 325px) 100vw, 325px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>TIN Name<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Lets you <strong>rename the TIN surface<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Useful for maintaining clear naming conventions, especially in workflows with multiple surfaces (e.g., ExistingGround, DesignSurface, Merged_TIN, etc.).&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The updated name is reflected immediately in the <strong>TIN Surface Manager<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>TIN Layer<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Allows you to <strong>change the CAD layer<\/strong> on which the TIN surface is drawn.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensures better <strong>layer management<\/strong> and organization in complex drawings.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Layer name updates affect the visibility and control through the standard Layer Manager.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Classification (Display Settings)<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Customize the visualization of elevation data across the surface by choosing one of the following modes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Single Class<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Applies a <strong>uniform color<\/strong> to all triangles in the surface.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ideal for general-purpose or basic visualizations.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Equal Classes<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Divides the elevation range into <strong>equal bands<\/strong> (e.g., 5 classes).&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assigns a unique color to each band based on the <strong>selected color ramp<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Useful for identifying elevation zones, terraces, or grading bands.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Gradient<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Applies a <strong>smooth color gradient<\/strong> from minimum to maximum elevation.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Best suited for realistic terrain visualization and identifying continuous elevation changes.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Color Ramp<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If Equal Classes or Gradient is selected, you can choose a predefined <strong>color ramp<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Helps highlight elevation transitions and surface patterns effectively.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Notes<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Redefine does not affect the triangulation<\/strong>, points, breaklines, or elevations\u2014it is strictly for metadata and display control.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the tool multiple times to fine-tune the surface name and appearance during the design or QA process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"parent":4129,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_kadence_starter_templates_imported_post":false,"_kad_post_transparent":"","_kad_post_title":"","_kad_post_layout":"","_kad_post_sidebar_id":"","_kad_post_content_style":"","_kad_post_vertical_padding":"","_kad_post_feature":"","_kad_post_feature_position":"","_kad_post_header":false,"_kad_post_footer":false,"_kad_post_classname":"","footnotes":""},"doc_tag":[],"class_list":["post-4147","docs","type-docs","status-publish","hentry"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.7 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Redefine TIN Surface | Update Metadata &amp; Display Settings<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"Use the Redefine TIN Surface tool to update surface names, layers, and display styles in AutoCAD without changing geometry.
